Sami woke up early this morning with a fever of 103.7. Poor girl has never had a fever that high. Of course I panicked and my first thought was that we should take her to the ER immediately, but with help from my big sis' I calmed down and things got better. Sami is still not eating very much, more like nibbling, but her fever is down to a steady 99.3.

I was tempted...
to sit on the tailgate of the pickup that angled me in in the parking lot of the clinic/hospital so that I could see the face of the dumbass driver who angled me in. But it's too cold to sit outside and wait for stupid.
I was tempted to write a note to put on Dumbass's windshield that read something like this:
Dear Dumbass,
Before you drive off in this vehicle, please consider calling somebody to drive for you, because if you can't even park this pickup, I don't want to be around when you are actually driving it. Maybe also consider purchasing a vehicle that you can handle.
Sincerly,
The pregnant chick you angled in (your lucky I am only 15 weeks pregnant; any more and I wouldn't have been able to squeeze through where your tire and the back of my car practically met)
But the only paper that I had in my car was a coloring from Sami, and I didn't want to waste that on a dumbass.
I was also tempted to write "The driver of this vehicle is a Certified Dumbass" in the dirt on the tailgate, but again, it's really cold out and I would have to repeatedly lick my finger to write all of that. So I just settled with writing "Dumbass" on their tailgate.
WARNING: This pregnancy has removed my ability to control what I say and do.

Dinner & Dessert & A Treat
Sami didn't eat her dinner tonight and we had a delicious chocolate cake waiting to be eaten for dessert, but since Sami didn't eat she wasn't going to get dessert. Tonight was the first night that she really grasped that concept. She came strolling back into the kitchen when she heard Joe pull out the cake and she rested her chin on the table next to him, staring at him while he took each delicious bite. After being told that she can't have any because she didn't eat (or even attempt to eat) her supper, she put on her game face, pulled her plate with the pork taco she pretended to be gagging on just minutes before and chowed it down like she was on fear factor. EVERY.LAST.BITE. Since she did her part, we got her a little slice of cake. After she finished her cake, she brought her plate into the kitchen and said...
"I finished my cake, can I have my treat now?"
*****
Earlier this morning: Joe tossed supper into the crockpot then said "dinner's in the crockpot." Sami started laughing and said "Daddy said 'crockpot'!!" That girl cracks me up.

Today
This morning, Sami asked me if she could put on some "lipstuff". I said yes because she usually is good about keeping it in the vicinity of her lips. I knew it wasn't going to be pretty when I heard her say "I'm a clown!"
Backtracking - Christmas
We celebrated Christmas a few different times from Christmas Eve to January 9th. Here's a slideshow of pix from Christmas Day at our house. It was the first Christmas that Sami kind of understood what was going on. We put out cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve and they were all gone on Christmas morning. Sami was so proud that Santa ate her cookies! We all received great gifts and enjoyed being stormed in!
Thank You!
This is belated, informal, and probably inappropriate. Look who we are dealing with here. Me. The other night I was digging through the disaster we call a home office, and I discovered some of the Thank Yous that Sami and I were making after her birthday. I had already gotten some out, but I didn't send them all out. I was focusing all of my energy (was very little at that time) on being creative and thrifty (Sami and I drew/colored them...well, we started). Long story short, many of you did not receive Thank You notes for the awesome, thoughtful gifts that you gave to Sami for her birthday. For that, I apologize. We truly are thankful for all of the wonderful gifts that we receive.
Backtracking - Nov. 17th - Happy 3rd Bday Sami
Here I am discovering all of the things I spaced out during my first trimester of this pregnancy. Like posting pictures from Sami's third birthday. Her birthday party was held at Chuck E. Cheese. I was feeling brave. Or stupid. But it went okay. Sami was afraid of the rodent (Chuck), but that was to be expected. She had trouble warming up to the place when we got there and then we had to tear her away from the games by the end of the night.

Pregnancy Update
I am now 14 (yes, only 14) weeks pregnant. This pregnancy hasn't been the best, but I don't do pregnant well. I am lucky, as I know it could always be worse (I have to remind myself of that). I've had two ultrasounds and at least one more to go, but we are NOT finding out the gender. ...and we are not letting anyone else find out the gender either! I had to have a C-Section with Sami, and have decided that that's the best option for me this round also. So we will know the exact date and time that the baby will be born.
Why the ultrasounds? Because during the earlier parts of the first trimester I had lots of specific pain in my abdomen, so the doc was just confirming that I am a huge wuss and that nothing, other than some scar tissue, was causing the pain. I've also been cramping a lot (aren't you so happy that I am sharing this?), which I didn't notice in my pregnancy with Samantha until delivery time. I think my wuss level increases every year.
At least now I can say Goodbye First Trimester and Hello Second Trimester. Only 26 weeks to go. Technically, 25 weeks because the c-section will be one week before my due date (which is July 18).

Strong Enough
Tonight at dinner Joe and I were making a big deal about Sami chowing her peas, telling her that we could see her muscles growing as she ate up her veggies. After about four huge bites of peas, she put her spoon in her dish, pushed it away from her and said "I'm strong enough now."

The Results
The Polls are open for another 6 days, but I think the the results already speak for themselves. Thanks for your input. Leroy wins this battle, even though he doesn't have opposable thumbs...I shall add that it is my opinion that he who has opposable thumbs has the ability to zip up his gym bag.

I must clarify
The gym bag was NOT zipped up, but the powder was buried under Joe's shaving bag and workout clothes.
Something funny...or at least I think so
So, I have this dog named Leroy and he is a big boy. I also have this husband named Joe and he, too, is a big boy. Joe works out regularly and uses supplements and protein powders. Leroy works out by playing with Roxie in the snowy backyard, and he likes protein powders, but he is unable to purchase them to have at his convenience. There was this one time when Joe left his gym bag on the floor in the entryway/living room area and it was a cold day outside, so Leroy got to be in the house. When we got home, we discovered Leroy's sniffer actually worked (we often wonder if he can really smell like he should be able to), because he sniffed out Joe's extremely difficult to open Tupperware container filled with protein powder, managed to pry the cover off and indulged in every last powdery grain of that stuff. What lesson should have been learned here and by who (or whom, I'm really not gramatically inclined)?
Now back to the present: Leroy is five now, so he is likely at the middle of his life on this earth. I have taken over custody of him, since Joe has a new bitch in his life (I can say that because that's what she is, really). Leroy gets to be in the house during the day while we are away at work, because he is a good boy and it is cold outside. We know that we have to put the garbage in the closet when we leave Leroy alone, because he is a dog after all and he has proved to us that if we don't he will destroy it. So when I got home today and saw some of Joe's clothes laying outside of the bag, along with his shaving bag (not chewed up, just pulled out of the bag), and then discovered little broken pieces of plastic in another area of the living room, and then looked over at Leroy's bed and discovered the emty Tupperware container (same one) with the little scoop at the bottom, I LAUGHED because it was really funny to me. Joe forgot to zip up his gym bag that he leaves laying on the floor in the living room, and he forgot to put his protein powder up high, and that's what happened. So, who is at fault here? I need some help with this because Joe and I are in disagreement about this matter and Joe seems to think that the 'stupid dog' should never be allowed in the house again 'I don't care how cold it is outside.' I think that if that is the case, then Joe should receive a punishment similar to Leroy's. Please help us with this one by taking one of our fun and fabulous polls to the right. We would appreciate it.

Sign on incentive
Sign on to be a Tomboy Tools consultant this month for the opportunity to have your February mortgage paid!
I am so behind with everything lately, I just haven't had the time or energy (primarily the energy) to do anything. But I need to get the word out about this opportunity. I will post more details tomorrow, hopefully!
