Show & Tell

Yesterday was show & tell day at Sami's daycare. Usually she brings a doll or her toy cell phone or something like that, but yesterday she got to show off her new baby sister! She was very proud and all of the other daycare kids swarmed around Stella to check her out. Then they all sang "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to her (Sami got to pick the song). It was pretty sweet. Stella has no idea that she even left the house.

Just getting ready to walk down to the O.R. for surgery. I'm hiding my pee bag on the other side of my belly. I was really embarrassed to be walking around with my pee bag, but obviously got over that since I am blogging about it right now!

It's been one week and four days since Stella was born and we are all still adjusting. Sami is a great big sister, it just melts my heart how sweet she can be and how proud she is. She still has her moments where she retaliates the attention that her baby sister gets, but I'm pretty sure that's normal. Stella is a great baby, but also has her moments. Moments like the past two nights when she decided she needed to be up and ornery from about 2:30 a.m. until 5 a.m. Luckily my amazing husband does everything he can so that Stella and I can sleep in and take naps when needed.

A Few Of My Favorite Things About My Girls:

Sami: 1) She comes into my room every morning to give me and Stella a good morning kiss, and does the same before she leaves for daycare. 2) She calls her muscles "muffles". 3) She sings to her baby sister.

Stella: 1) You can tell when she is really passed out because she sleeps with her arms above her head in a 'stick 'em up' position. 2) She loves to snuggle in on my chest. 3) She has the most adorable little sneezes.

I could go on and on about both of them, but I will spare you...for now. Just one last thing: I LOVE saying "my girls." I'll try to post some more pictures and stuff tomorrow, but now I have to go snuggle with one of my girls!!!

Stella Jo Fluge

Born 7-9-10 at 424 pm. Weight: 7lbs, 1oz. Height: 19 inches. Hair: brown. Eyes: brown. Attitude? Check!

We're all doing good. Sami has come up to the hospital to visit her baby sister twice now and she'll be back today. Her visits are quick - holds Stella and then off to be a 3 1/2 year-old. I'm anxious to see how she does when we're all at home. I'm pretty sure she will be a mini-mommy.

We should be going home tomorrow morning, I'll try to post more pics and details then.

Happy Independence Day!

We don't have any crazy plans for this 4th of July. Would love to be at the lake, but I'll have to settle with putting my feet in Leroy's pool. We are going to try to keep Sami up so she can see the big fireworks show tonight. She'll actually be easy to keep awake; I will be the challenge.

Today I am 38 weeks and officially off of partial bedrest orders. My next appointment is on Friday and it sounds like that will also be Juan's day of arrival, unless he/she comes before then.

Big Sister Training

Tonight Sami went to a class to learn about being a big sister and she was awesome! This isn't a great pic, but she's showing me her doll that she just diapered.

Update

Spent the evening at the hospital last night due to cramping and contractions. Contractions were 2-3 minutes apart but mild to moderate. I am 36 weeks and 6 days along, and the doctor wants Juan Carlos to keep cooking until at least 38 weeks. I was sent home with partial bedrest orders. Basically, the doctor wants me to lay around with my legs crossed for a week so I don't stir things up again until I hit 38 weeks, which will be on July 4th. The downside is that I have to deal with the cramping/contractions for at least another week (unless they go from uncomfortable to painful), but on the upside, I get to lay around and watch chick flicks without feeling guilty!

Update

My car is sold! We are now a 1.5 vehicle family. I'm a bit sad to see my sweet ride go, but it cheers me up to know that one day we will be debt free! ...one day.

Thanks to my good friend's mom, we now have daycare lined up for Juan Carlos. What a relief! You know what else would be a relief?! Getting this baby out of my belly!! I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon and am showing no signs of 'progress' except for being huge. The doctor said again that she thinks this baby is going to be bigger than Sami was. She also said that she thinks I might go in labor before the scheduled surgery date, but I'm not counting on it. It'll be a long three weeks if I am in the mindset that any day I could go into labor. I'll stick with the July 14th date. We still don't have the baby's room ready, but it's getting there little by little. The biggest thing that needs to be done in there right now is getting the crib set up.

Father's Day 2010

For Father's Day we went and hung out at the Red River Zoo. We got to see the wolves eat (not as exciting as we'd hoped) and Sami fed the big horse, the miniature horse and some goats. I think she was most excited about the cat that had snuck into the camels' area.

Backtracking: May 22, 2010

My 'little' sister's high school graduation party was May 22nd, so we were down in Kansas for that. Those Kansas grads don't mess around - I think the entire high school showed up for Leah's graduation party and we only saw her for the few hours that her party lasted because she had a huge list of parties to attend. I was a little overwhelmed and exhausted, so I didn't take any actual party pictures, but I did get some before pictures!
