Leroy is taller than me. Well, maybe we are the same height. It was hard to tell as I couldn't think of anything but the pain of his claws digging into my shoulders as he was clinging on to me for dear life. Seriously. Clinging on to me. I think he was trying to tell me something. What do you think? The reason for the mud, particularly on my right thigh, is from several knee jabs to Leroy's chest to try get him off of me. Usually works, but this time not so much. He misses his alpha male.

Starting Block 5 of 17...

I just got the news that Joe passed his Block 4 test with 100%!! Way to go, honey! Now starts Block 5, which is on GPS, mapping, directions and conversions (or something like that). The next test will be Friday, October 19th. ~K

Sami & Grandpa

Yesterday was my cousin Camryn's 9th birthday! She had a birthday party dinner last night and guess who showed up!?!? Grandpa Ken from Kansas!!! That is a very special birthday present! That was the shortest visit I've ever seen Grandpa make in my entire life!!

Joe Update

Joe is currently in Block 4 of 15 (or 17 ??). Tomorrow morning he has to run at 4:45. That's earlier than normal because they will be running with the new recruits (whatever they're called). Then on Friday he has is test for Block 4 and begins Block 5. The next test will be next Friday (19th). It sounds like one of the toughest blocks will be Block 9, which will be around Thanksgiving time.

Ms. Independent

Little Miss Samantha decided it is time to help her Mommy out in the mornings and start feeding herself. At first she wasn't sure how she would squeeze it in between her morning stretching and Baby Signing Time, but then she realized that she could do her morning stretching at the same time that she had her morning bottle! My little multi-tasker!

Sami is cruising around on all fours and trying so hard to pull herself up on furniture, but hasn't gotten that down yet. It won't be long before she gets it figured out, though. ~K

Joe passed his 3rd test this morning and gave his presentation this afternoon. The test was the most important part (if he were to fail that, he'd have to start the entire training over again in November), so he focused most of his time on studying for that last night. He was sure that he would have to redo his presentation, but ended up getting 100 percent! Block 4 should start tomorrow - only about 14 blocks left! ~K

Two tests down, ?? to go. Joe passed his second test this morning and is now studying away for his next test on Thursday morning, plus a 30-minute presentation.

It feels like it has been 1 1/2 months, not 1 1/2 weeks; but from what I hear, the first couple weeks are the toughest...and the last couple. SJ and I are doing well at my mom's and we really appreciate her letting us rent a room for a few months, but it will be SO nice to have our own home again!! ~K~
